Kunja Bihari College owes its genesis and name to the candid and sincere efforts of Dr. Banshidhar Panda, the son-of-the-soil scientist of Orissa. A native of Madhuban under Barang Block, Dr.Panda had been inspired by his father to provide facilities for higher education for the populace of Baranga area in particular and the adjoining areas in general. Accordingly, the institution had been named after Kunja Bihari, the father who nurtured this noble idea, by his illustrious son Bansidhar.
Spread over an area of thrity acres, the college stands on a secluded site away from the public hubbub. About two kilometers from the Baranga Railway Station, the college is also approachable by motorable road from both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The isolated setting of the institution provides a great sense of private necessary for an educational institution, through some look at it as commuter's handicap.
The college also has the added splendor of its surrounding where, on one side the mythological Prachi river surges down through one of its attractive canals and the glamorous, globally accredited fauna and flora of the Nandan Kanan on the other. Remarkably, the founders of the college had thought of all the academic streams, viz. Arts, Science and Commerce from the beginning days.
