Sixteen-year-old Viswa Virinchi Muppirala has taken a step towards his dream career by securing the first rank in JEE (Main) exam 2013.

Viswa, a Hyderabad student, has scored 345 marks.

Owais Khan Mohammed, by scoring 341 marks, has secured the second rank in the engineering entrance exam. Interestingly, Owais is also from Hyderabad and both the toppers are classmates from Sri Chaitanya Narayana IIT Academy, Madhapur.

The third topper, Ravi Jagannath Vishal has scored 340 marks and is a resident of Visakhapatnam.

Reports say that Viswa has not yet decided which IIT he would like to join. He is passionate about engineering and has special interest in Mathematics and Physics.

Owais aims to join IIT-Bombay. He wants to pursue a career in Aeronautical Engineering. He born and brought up in Saudi Arabia. He came to India to appear for JEE and to realize his dream.

Ravi, the third topper, has put in 12 hours of study every day and he is glad to be one of the toppers.

JEE (Main) is the first step towards entry to the IITs and other engineering colleges.

About 10.5 lakh students sat for JEE (Main). About 9 lakh students sat for the pen-and-paper test while 1.5 lakh students sat for the online test.

According to the new rules, about 1.5 lakh pass-outs will be selected for the IIT-Advanced examination on June 2, the entrance test meant for admissions to IITs.
