Six new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have been set up across India and its academic sessions are slated to begin from August 2012.
The new AIIMS have been set up in Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur as well as Bhubaneswar.
The Ministry of Health has established the new AIIMS under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
The AIIMS in Patna has been rechristened as Jai Prakash Narayan All India Institute of Medical Sciences (JPN-AIIMS).
The first batch of the new AIIMS will start simultaneously with 50 students on board.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has established six new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (similar to AIIMS, New Delhi) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The admission notice of the new AIIMS has not yet been made official.
The ministry has decided that the selection for admission for the new AIIMS will be done through the existing AIIMS entrance test.
The counselling and admissions of the six new AIIMS will be directly under the Ministry of Health’s supervision.
