In spite of all the uncertainty surrounding the AICTE’s Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admissions into MBA and PGDM courses in the country, AICTE has announced the next edition of the entrance test will be held in February, 2014.
Amid the prevailing confusion it was reported that the Delhi High Court had scrapped the exam. But the ruling has not asked for CMAT to be scrapped entirely, it has only empowered colleges and universities and put the ball firmly in their court as to whether they want to adopt the test.
The High Court in its order has said that “it is not obligatory for the institutes granting an MBA degree to make admissions to MBA and similar courses only on the basis of the CMAT conducted by the AICTE.”
So, now, institutes can grant admissions to their courses by independently choosing any of the six national level entrance exams, viz; CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, GMAT and CMAT.
You can log onto the official AICTE website at http://www.aicte-cmat.in/College/Index_New.aspx to register yourself for CMAT-2014.
Registrations have started from November 1. 2013 and will go on until January 2, 2014.
The test will be conducted between February 20 and February 24, 2014.
Students can find the state-wise list of AICTE-approved institutes that will be accepting CMAT scores here – http://www.aicte-india.org/misappmanagement.htm#
