Minister of Human resource Development (MHRD), New Delhi has announced MHRD Internship Scheme 2014 for Indian nationals. It will commence on October 1, 2014 and will be available for one year.
The unique MHRD scheme aims to include young students in policy making, project implementation and other initiatives related to Education sector. Students will get exposure to how Government of India works and contribute to formulation of policies by providing inputs such as empirical analysis, policy papers, and briefing reports, and the Ministry will have access to young and fresh talent as additional resources. The new ideas of chosen candidates will also add to fine-tuning of education-related policies.
Indian nationals who have completed two-years of Graduation, Postgraduation or Research programmes in the fields of Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Science, Management, Engineering, Law and ICT can apply for the internships.
Those who are enrolled in five-year integrated programmes must have completed at least three years of their course to be eligible for the MHRD internship scheme.
Domains of Internship
Students may be offered internship in following areas (according to their interest as far as possible):
- Higher Education – Focus may vary from Technical Education including IITs and IIMs to Apex Bodies to Research and Development to Skill Development or Vocational Education programmes.
- Deemed Universities – Focus may vary from Other Higher Education Institutions to Apex Bodies to Rashtriya Ucchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA) to National Mission on Education through ICT to Distance Learning to Apprentice Scheme.
- School of Education & Literacy – Focus may vary from Elementary Education to Secondary Education to Adult Education and Literacy.
Other Scheme Details
Duration: 2 months (extendable up to 6 months with no stipend for the extended period).
Batch I will run from October to November, 2014, Batch II will run from December 2014 to January 2015, Batch III will run from February to March 2015, Batch IV will run from April to May 2015, Batch V will run from June to July 2015 and Batch VI will run from August to September 2015.
No. of Interns in each Batch: 6
Stipend: Rs 10,000 per month (paid only for two months after successful completion of internship.
At the end of the internship, interns will have to submit a brief report on their learning experience to the Bureau Head. They will also receive a Certificate at the end of their internship, as recommended by their respective Bureau Head to the Administration Division.
The application proforma can be downloaded from the official website and and can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Section Officer (Establishment-IV), Room No. 235, C-Wing, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi-1100115 – latest by August 30, 2014 (by 5:30 pm) for Batches I to III, and by February 28, 2015 (by 5:30 pm) for Batches IV to VI.
Applicants will also have to produce a letter from their Head of Department, Principal or Supervisor which indicates the status of the student in their institution as well as served as ‘No Objection Certificate’. Their NOC will be required again if an intern gets an extension of the tenure.
Applicants will also need a Character Certificate from their Head of Department, Guide or Head of Institutions.
The Standing Selection Committee will scrutinize the applications and make the final offers.
